The Embedded Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing, integrating and testing the electronic control systems and embedded software used across SlurryKat machinery.
This is a hands-on engineering role combining software, electronics and machinery.
You will work closely with our Production and R&D teams to develop systems that control and automate functions across our machinery.
The role will involve everything from writing and testing embedded software through to working directly on machines on the factory floor and during field testing.

- Developing embedded software in C and C++
- Developing and modifying PLC programs.
- Working with Codesys or similar for Control Panel development
- Working with CAN bus, Ethernet and other industrial communication protocols.
- Integrate sensors, displays, valves, actuators, flowmeters and other electronic components.
- Support development of operator interfaces and machine displays.
- Test software and electronic systems.
- Support prototype development and testing of new machinery.
- Carry out practical testing on machinery in the factory and in field conditions.
- Document software, electrical systems, configurations and engineering changes.
- Support Production and Service teams with technical issues relating to electronic control systems.
- Investigate new technologies that could improve the automation, usability and performance of SlurryKat machinery.
Essential Skills & Experience

- Degree or equivalent qualification in Embedded Systems, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering or a related discipline
- Good understanding of programming fundamentals
- Practical experience with C and/or C++
- Interest in embedded systems and industrial automation
- Understanding of PLC programming and control systems
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation and electrical schematics
- Willingness to work hands-on with machines and equipment
- Strong attention to detail
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be particularly beneficial:
- CODESYS
- C/C++
- Microcontrollers
- CAN /CAN Open
- PLCs and industrial automation
- HMI development
- Motors, pumps, valves, sensors and hydraulic systems
- Electrical control panels and industrial instrumentation
What We're Looking For
The right person will be:
- A junior engineer who enjoys seeing their software operating a real machine.
- Comfortable working both at a computer and directly on machinery.
- A strong problem solver who can systematically diagnose faults.
- Able to work independently while collaborating with different engineering disciplines.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving manufacturing and R&D environment.
- Willing to test, refine and improve systems through practical machine trials.
- Able to communicate technical information clearly to engineers, production staff and other departments.
Why Join SlurryKat?
This is an opportunity to have a direct influence on the development of SlurryKat's future machinery.
Rather than working on one small element of a large engineering programme, you will be able to follow projects from initial concept and development through to prototype, production and field testing.
The role offers significant scope to develop new technologies and help shape the future electronic and automation systems used across SlurryKat's product range.
