The SlurryKat macerator is a fully in-house designed system, developed over 30 years of our agricultural contracting team and continuous research and development. It delivers consistent, controlled slurry flow across every outlet of the applicator from first nozzle to last and is a key component of our slurry spreading technology.How Does the SlurryKat Macerator Work?
At the centre of the system is a hydraulic driven rotor working alongside a precision, scissor action cutting system. Six spring loaded circular blades on each side of the centre are pushed against dual screens, spinning continuously, as well as rotating via the motor, to ensure slurry is processed and chopped finely as it passes through.
Material is finely reduced and broken down through the 32mm holes of the screens before passing through 40mm outlets into the applicator. The perforations also grip the fibres within the slurry, allowing them to be cut into small pieces. This design allows slurry to be effectively conditioned, maintaining a steady, unrestricted flow through the system.
Our macerators are ventilated, making it unique compared to any other macerator on the market, as competitors' units do not include this key feature. This non-pressurised design supports this process by allowing slurry to move naturally and evenly, helping maintain balanced flow across all outlets on dribble bar, trailing shoe systems and flexi show applicators, as slurry is not forced out but can evenly travel to all pipes across the boom.

Consistent flow through the macerator ensures slurry is distributed evenly across the full working width of the applicator. Each outlet receives a steady, controlled supply, resulting in uniform application across the crop.

Proven in Real Working Conditions
The SlurryKat macerator is proven in the field by long term customer use and real operational data.
Lyons Contracts have been running SlurryKat equipment at large scale for many seasons, spreading with their 15m Premium Plus™ duo dribble bar. Their experience highlights long term reliability, with Stephen Lyons confirming: "In three full seasons we have spread over 45 million gallons from the 15m dribble bar and the macerators are still working perfectly without a part being changed," and adding that "delivery hose blockages are virtually non existent." This reflects both durability and consistent flow performance across high output use.
D.S. Robertson Agricultural Contractors, with over 10 years of SlurryKat operation, also highlight long term dependability and ease of use, stating: "The SlurryKat macerators are brilliant. That's one of the things that made us go for the dribble bar. They're great. The internal parts are very hard wearing. We've pumped 55 million gallons through it in 2 and a half years and its only been opened a handful of times." This reinforces the reliability of the system even in everyday contracting work.
Hunniford Farms have also demonstrated strong performance with SlurryKat slurry systems, especially on their 24m dribble bar, highlighting consistent application and reliable distribution across the working width in real field conditions. "The distribution has been perfect from the macerators. They're definitely working and our situation would be as extreme as you're going to get. Uphill, in wet ground, pumping on a hillside hang and they can still do it," commented Richard Hunniford.
