The Role

As a Junior Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the manufacture, assembly and testing of the electrical hardware used across SlurryKat machinery.

A key part of the role will be the manufacture of wiring looms and cable harnesses, as well as the assembly and wiring of electrical control panels.

You will work closely with R&D and production teams to ensure that electrical systems are correctly manufactured, installed and tested.



Key Responsibilities

Build and test wiring looms and cable harnesses for mobile machinery

Manufacture harnesses to engineering drawings and wiring diagrams

Select appropriate cables, connectors, terminals, protective sleeving and conduit

Carry out wire cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering and termination where required

Produce and maintain loom and harness documentation

Build and wire electrical control panels

Install PLCs, relays, contactors, fuses, circuit protection, terminals and other control components

Wire sensors, actuators, valves, motors and other electrical equipment

Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

Carry out continuity, insulation and functional testing of wiring and panels

Diagnose wiring faults and assist with electrical troubleshooting

Support electrical installation and commissioning of completed machines

Maintain good standards of cable routing, labelling, termination and workmanship

Assist with the development and improvement of harness and panel designs

Maintain accurate build records and documentation

Support prototype builds and development projects

Follow relevant electrical, machinery and safety standards



Essential Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone with experience or strong knowledge in several of the following areas:

Basic understanding of electrical and electronic systems

Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

Good practical skills and attention to detail

Comfortable working with hand tools and electrical assembly equipment

Understanding of basic electrical principles

Good organizational and problem-solving skills

Willingness to learn and develop practical engineering skills

Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team

A qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline would be beneficial.

Relevant practical industry experience will also be strongly considered.



Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be particularly beneficial:

Wiring looms and cable harnesses

Control-panel construction and wiring

Industrial machinery

Automotive, agricultural or mobile equipment

12 V / 24 V DC electrical systems

PLC control systems

Crimping and terminal systems

Cable glands, conduit, and heat-shrink

Electrical CAD software

Electrical testing and fault finding

Reading connector pin-outs

  • Comfortable moving between electronic design work, the workshop and machinery testing.
  • A strong problem solver with a methodical approach to diagnosing faults.
  • Able to understand how electronic, software, hydraulic and mechanical systems interact.
  • Comfortable building and testing prototypes.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating with other engineering disciplines.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving manufacturing and R&D environment.
  • Able to communicate technical information clearly to engineers, production staff and other departments.
