At SlurryKat, we're proud to manufacture equipment trusted by farmers and contractors around the world. As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a motivated General Operative & Forklift Driver to join our manufacturing team.

This is a hands-on, varied role that plays a vital part in keeping production running efficiently. From moving materials and organising parts for assembly teams to loading machinery for dispatch, you'll be at the centre of our manufacturing operation.

The Role

Working across our site and production facility, you'll be responsible for the safe movement of materials, components, and finished machinery while supporting day-to-day production activities. You'll help ensure products move efficiently through the manufacturing process while maintaining the high standards of organisation, safety, and quality that define SlurryKat.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling & Forklift Operations

• Safely operate forklift trucks and yard equipment in line with company procedures.
• Carry out daily equipment checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
• Transport materials, components, and finished machinery throughout the production process.
• Ensure all loads are secured and moved safely while adhering to Health & Safety and site traffic management requirements.

Loading & Dispatch

• Load and unload HGVs, trailers, and delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Check incoming deliveries against documentation and report any discrepancies.
• Prepare and move finished machinery ready for dispatch.
• Work closely with logistics and production teams to maintain efficient workflow and vehicle turnaround times.

Production & Assembly Support

• Assist assembly teams in the build of SlurryKat machinery and equipment.
• Ensure production areas remain stocked with the components required to maintain workflow.
• Move completed assemblies and part-finished units through the manufacturing process to minimise downtime and support productivity.

Site Maintenance

• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
• Manage storage areas, pallets, stillages, and materials efficiently.
• Carry out routine housekeeping duties and report hazards, damage, or maintenance issues promptly.
• Assist with planned maintenance and site improvement activities as required.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3 years' experience operating a forklift truck within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
• Valid Counterbalance FLT licence (Reach Truck licence advantageous).
• Experience loading and unloading HGVs and working to delivery schedules.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices.
• Ability to work independently, use initiative, and manage workload effectively.
• Good communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude.
• Physically fit and comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
• Ability to follow instructions, technical drawings, and production requirements accurately.

Desirable Experience

• Agricultural machinery, engineering, or manufacturing industry experience.
• Experience supporting production and assembly operations.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and aptitude.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or materials handling processes.
